Group Digipak- Miss Miller

We came together as a group and looked at each others digipaks discussing what was successful about them and what needed to be improved. We looked at the digipaks discussing what digipak was the most successful so that we could use it for our group digipak. We decided to use Ambers digipak as we believed it was the most conventional to the indie genre and the most appealing. Once we decided to use Ambers digipak we developed it so that it was slightly different from her old one and also we developed it to add other ideas from our other digipaks that we thought were successful.

Blessings Digipak

Blessings digipak was incomplete therefore we couldnt use it as our group digipak however I believe it was the most appealing digipak out of the three with the use of the nice colour green and appealing font it would have appealed to our target audience and drawn audiences in. A massive strength of her digipak was her appealing tracklist, the colour green and black contrasts well which makes it very appealing to audiences. Also the image chosen on her tracklist is very conventional to the indie genre as the image is set in a realistic location and the artist has a guitar on his back which will tell audiences that its the digipak is promoting an album of the indie genre. Her digipak also looks very professional which will interest audiences. We decided to keep her tracklist names as we believed that they were all clever names. A weakness of her digipak is that it looks a bit simple as there is a lot of space not being used on the front cover which may bore audiences also its unfinished therefore we couldn't use the digipak.

Domenicos Digipak

From looking at Domenicos digipak we have incorporated his images he has used for our group digipak as we believed they were the most conventional images to the indie genre. A weakness of his digipak is that the his front cover is not very clear as he has tried to hard to signify the album title of 'King' by using a large image of a lion and a crown therefore the audience will not be able to see the artist therefore the digipak doesn't promote the artist. The colours also doesn't make the digipak visually appealing therefore audiences wont be attracted to the digipak. The colours are not conventional to the indie genre also. However a strength with this digipak is that hes conveyed Nicos popularity by using images of his fans which will present that hes a strong influential artist. Also his digipak looks professional as his photoshop skills are evidently high therefore the digipak will appeal to audiences.

Ambers digipak
This is the digipak we have chosen to be our group digipak, we chose this one as we believed it was the most eye catching by the colours used, conventional due to the images used of the artist and the most professional looking. The strengths of this digipak is the images used, the images are conventional of the indie genre due to in each image we see the artist with an acoustic guitar therefore the audience will understand the the digipak is of the indie genre. Another strength of this digipak is the bright colours used even though the colours subverts the indie genre they are appealing which will draw audiences in. The weakness of this digipak is there is too much text on the inside covers which makes the digipak look unorganised, we changed this on our group digipak to make it look simpler.
- This is our group digipak, we incorporated many different ideas from each others digipak to make it our own. We used Blessings track list as liked the song titles, We kept ambers blue colouring so that our digipak appeals to the audience, we used my inside cover of the thank you note as we believed it was the most conventional and also the track list image and finally we used domenicos images of the artists.

Colours
The colours we have used on the digipak are contrasting colours. We have used black and white colouring for the background on each slide of the digipak apart from one of the inside covers. The black and white colouring is very conventional to the indie genre which is why we have chosen this colour. We have also chosen this colour so that the writing stands out from background and can be easily read. On the digipak there is a colour scheme of black, white and blue, this colours easily contrast therefore making the digipak very appealing. Although on the front cover the colour pink is used which subverts the indie genre however we have used this colour so that it makes our digipak look vibrant which will interest audiences.

Coventions of the genre
We have conformed to some conventions of the indie genre such as using edgy images of nico. On the inside covers Nico is holding a guitar in his hand which will show the audiences he is a strong indie artist therefore attracting them to the digipak. On the front cover the audience can see Nico is wearing plain casual clothing which will build a relationship with the audience and him as they will be able to relate to him. On the front and back cover we have used simple font which is conventional to the indie genre, we have done this so that the audience can see straight away that the digipak is promoting an indie album therefore audiences are more likely to look and buy the digipak. The font also makes the digipak more simplistic which is also conventional to the indie genre. However on the inside covers we have used more of a fancy font which subverts the conventions of the indie genre, we have used this font so that it looks like the digipak has been hand written therefore making it more personal so that the audience will feel special and want to understand the artist better. The layout is very simple design which is conventional to the indie genre but also makes it more appealing for the audience. Lastly the black and white colours are conventional to the indie genre whereas the bright blue and pink colouring isnt but we have chosen to use these colours on top of the the black and white colouring to make the digipak more vibrant and bright which will draw in audiences. Therefore overall I believe that our digipak is conventional with a few unique characteristics.

Images
The images we have used on the digipak are all conventional to the indie genre. On the front cover the background image is of a road in London with a tattoo sign on one of the house, theres also another image of cars at the bottom and a close up image of Nico on the middle of the advert. We chose a close up image so that the audience can clearly see who he is. Also the image of Nico is quite soft as he is looking down which will build a relationship between the audience and artist. The image on the Cd is very conventional as its a very edgy image of Nico standing near a poster, this will make the audiences interested in the digipak. On all of the inside covers each image has Nico holding a guitar, we chose these images so that the audience can clearly see hes a strong indie artist. On the back cover we have no image of Nico as we didnt want the audience to be distracted from the track list therefore the back cover is very simplistic which is conventional to the indie gnere.

Layout/design
The layout/design of each slide of the digipak is very simplistic, we wanted to keep the design simple so that the digipak is appealing but also conventional to the indie genre. There is no text put over images of Nico, we have done this so that the audience can clearly see who the artist is and therefore he is promoted properly.

Typography
On the front and back cover the font is very plain and simple, we have chosen this font so that the audience can clearly see its conventional to the indie genre therefore they will be attracted to the digipak. However on the inside covers we have used a more of a fancy font so that it looks handwritten which makes the digipak more personal which will make the audience feel more special. Also we have used the same font for 'king' so that it makes the digipak visually appealing.

Language
The language we have used on the digipak is simple language so that the audience can understand the digipak easily. Also by using simple language shows that our artist is a typical boy therefore the audience will be able to relate to him better which means that a relationship is built between the two.
I believe my digipak conforms to the indie genre by the use of simple layout/desgin, simple language and conventional edgy images. However it subverts the indie genre by the use of bright colours such as blue and pink however this makes our digipak more appealing and vibrant which will draw audiences in. I believe it appeals to our target audience as its very edgy unique and vibrant which will draw audiences in. I believe working as a group to create this final digipak was successful as we incorporated many different ideas and features within the digipak.

Rough Cut - Miss Georgiou

A rough cut is very important when creating a music video as it allows our group to view the first draft of our music video so that we can see where we need to make changes to improve our music video. By having a rough cut allows us to improve our music video proficiently as we are able to see what shots needs to be changed and what shots needs to be added in the music video. Therefore by having a rough cut allows us to improve our music video dramatically as we are able to see what is successful and what isn't.
Audience feedback is also important when creating a music video as the group will understand the strengths and weaknesses of elements within our music video such as lighting, timings and the mise en scene. By having audience feedback allows us to improve our music video as we can see what the audience wants therefore making our music video more suited to audiences. Therefore audience feedback is important as we then know how to improve our music video so that it suits our target audience.

We received feedback through many different ways so that we could gain many different opinions so that we can improve our music video proficiently.  The first way we received feedback was within our class. We have 2 groups within our class. We watched each others rough cuts and discussed as a group what their strengths and what their weaknesses was. The feedback we gave back included 3 strengths, 3 weaknesses, a score out of 40 which is their grade and why we have given them that score.

The feedback we received is very helpful in seeing what we need to do to improve our music video.
One positive feedback was that we had an effective time lapse. We were very happy with this comment as we took a long time trying to the time lapse. Also as our time lapse is successful the audience will now easily understand the narrative as the time lapse will cause the audience to see that our artists pace of life is slow whilst everyone else's is fast which will build empathy for the boy therefore building a relationship between the two. We was also happy that our time lapse was successful as this meant the visuals and the lyrics matched therefore our music video is easy and interesting to watch.

Another positive feedback we received was that mise en scene was conventional to the indie genre, we was happy with this comment as this shows us our target audience will enjoy our music video and can see straight away its an indie music video. We was also glad it was a positive comment as we tried hard to stick to indie conventions as best as we can such as wearing plain clothing and using a realistic setting. Therefore we know that our music video conforms to some indie genre conventions.

Another positive comment which we received was good camera angles we had within our music video. We was happy with this comment as it means that our music video is interesting as different angles makes it engaging therefore our target audience will be drawn in to our music video.

We also received constructive comments so that we know how we can improve our music video.
First constructive comment we received that was constructive was that some of our footage is too dark. I agree with this as at the beginning of our music video some of our footage is dark due to us filming quite late during the day. However we do not need to re film we can just lighten up the shots using an effect on Final cut.

Another constructive comment we received is that the lip syncing of the artist is slightly out of sink. I believe this is a fair comment as we were pushed for time and had to film quickly therefore we rushed some shots therefore our lip syncing was not as successful as it should of been. Furthermore to over come this we are going to re film the shots that aren't successful.
The last constructive comment we received was that the narrative wasn't clear. From receiving this comment we now understand that just because we understand the music video the audience wont as well therefore we need to make the narrative more clearer. We will do this by filming more shots of the dad arguing with the son to show why he is leaving.
- The other groups feedback sheet- Our feedback sheet

By receiving feedback will help our group to make our music video more successful. Due to the comments we received we now know how to make our music video more successful and appeal better to our target audience. We will re film the shots that have poor lip syncing so that our music video looks more professional therefore appealing more to the audience and gaining more views, we will make our narrative more clear by adding more shots of the dad neglecting the son to show clearly why he's running away and finally we will brighten up some shots so that our music video is clearer.
